Direct answer: Compare quotes only after both suppliers have priced the same vehicle version and the same work up to a named handover point. Record each inclusion, exclusion and unconfirmed item. A lower headline price does not establish a lower cost for the buying scope you need.

Start with one shared buying brief
Give each supplier the same destination, quantity range, model year, production-market version, powertrain, steering position, trim and required equipment. Request a version-specific specification sheet. A shared model name or similar photograph cannot establish that the proposed vehicles match.
Then name the work you want included: inspection scope, available document inputs, origin handling, packing, freight and the agreed handover point. Record the trade term and named place exactly as proposed and have the responsible parties confirm the allocation of work. This guide does not interpret a contract or determine local import eligibility.
Build a scope comparison sheet
| Field | Evidence or question |
|---|---|
| Exact vehicle | Version sheet, model year, steering, powertrain, trim and equipment |
| Inspection | Checks, provider, acceptance criteria and evidence included in the price |
| Documents | Which available documents the export team supplies and which your receiving specialist must confirm |
| Handling and transport | Named handover point; included packing, handling, freight and insurance |
| Exclusions | Every charge or task outside the offer, with a responsible party |
| Open conditions | Validity, availability and unconfirmed timing; keep missing answers visible |
A small illustration of why the headline can mislead
Assumed figures only, not a quotation or market price: offer A lists a vehicle at USD 20,000 plus USD 1,200 origin-side work and USD 800 freight. Offer B lists USD 20,600 plus USD 600 origin-side work and USD 800 freight. Both add to USD 22,000 for these stated components.
This arithmetic does not establish equivalent vehicles, service quality or a complete landed cost. Destination charges, taxes, insurance and onward delivery are not estimated here. Do not add a component again if the actual offer already includes it. Ask your local specialist to confirm receiving-side costs and requirements for the exact transaction.

Separate price questions from missing answers
Mark each line as included, excluded or awaiting confirmation. Ask for the evidence owner and the next clarification rather than treating a blank field as free. Review technical suitability, inspection acceptance and service scope alongside the arithmetic; an equal subtotal is not an approval decision.
Before approving a comparison
- Use the same vehicle brief and revision for every supplier.
- Match the work and named handover point line by line.
- Check exclusions, quotation validity and unresolved assumptions in writing.
- Have the receiving team review its own responsibilities before commitment.
